I've made home made bubble solution before, and it's worked great. My problem is storing it. I put it into a clean milk jug. Both times I did this, after a few weeks the jug sprung a leak. Talk about a mess! I had the jug stored on my basement stairs and I have bubble solution (with corn syrup in it! ) dribbled down the stairs! Ugh! The second time I put the jug into a bucket just in case. ... same thing happened. Wth?

I'm not sure what materials your milk jug is made from, although the general
consensus seems to be HDPE

I can't find any definitive info about the effect of strong detergent and
corn syrup on HDPE, but my assumption would be that it is at least marginally
soluble in either the detergent or the corn syrup.

I would suggest trying a bottle made of a different plastic. Soft drink
bottles are made from PET - so perhaps try one of those.
